An Insight into Industrial Laminates

Ai Engineering Plastics and Laminates have distributed industrial laminates since 1980. Following our rebranding, we are continuing to invest in our stocks of both industrial laminates and engineering plastics.
Industrial laminates are different to engineering plastics as they are thermosets as opposed to thermoplastics. This means that during production they experience a chemical change and become set, hard solids that cannot be melted or remoulded once they have been cured, unlike thermoplastics which can be melted and remoulded repeatedly.
Industrial laminates are produced by combining thermosetting resins such as Phenolic and Epoxy with base materials such as paper, canvas, linen and glass. The base materials are impregnated with the resin and then pressed under heat and pressure.
We are able to process all of our laminates by cutting and sanding, which enables our customers to get their material with tighter tolerances than as manufactured with less subsequent machining.
Laminates we sell include: SRBP P1 & P3 and SRBF F1 & F2 and Epoxy 4W/EP.
SRBP
SRBP stands for Synthetic Resin Bonded Paper and is sold by us in two grades: P1 and P3, the difference between the two mainly being their electrical properties. SRBP P1 conforms to BSEN60893 3-4-PFCP201 whilst P3 conforms to BSEN60893 3-4-PFCP206.
